Bhavan’s Legacy

Discover the educational and cultural legacy of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and its guiding values.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s V.M. Public School, Vadodara is part of the wider Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan educational tradition founded by Dr. K. M. Munshi. The school’s educational outlook brings together modern learning, Indian cultural values and the development of responsible, confident young people.

The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan tradition

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was founded in 1938 as an educational, cultural and intellectual movement. Its work has long emphasised the enduring values of truth, love and beauty, together with faith, self-discipline and dedication. The school in Vadodara carries this philosophy into day-to-day education by combining academic learning with character, culture, service and participation.

Bhavans in Vadodara

The Vadodara school was established under the vision of Dr. K. M. Munshi to provide a modern education informed by the best of contemporary learning while remaining connected with Indian culture. The campus extends across approximately 36 acres of green surroundings and serves students from Nursery and Kindergarten through the Senior Secondary stage.

The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), with Affiliation No. 430002 and School Code 10010. Senior Secondary education includes Science and Commerce streams, subject to the school’s current academic offering.

Education beyond examinations

Academic achievement is one part of the Bhavans experience. Students are encouraged to participate in sports, creative and performing arts, literary activities, clubs, NCC, community service and other programmes that build confidence, teamwork and social responsibility. The school’s published legacy highlights facilities and opportunities in football, basketball, cricket, hockey, tennis, volleyball and badminton, along with yoga, karate, music, dance, art, craft, debate, dramatics, science and technology activities.

A values-based learning environment

The Bhavan’s philosophy seeks to create learners who can think independently, act responsibly and appreciate both national heritage and a wider global outlook. This balance is reflected in classroom learning, co-curricular participation, service, leadership opportunities and the everyday culture of the school.
