Examination Policy

Understand the school’s published assessment and examination framework.

Assessment at Bhavans V.M. Public School is intended to support learning, provide feedback and measure student progress. As a CBSE-affiliated school, assessment and promotion practices remain subject to current CBSE directions and applicable government rules.

Purpose of assessment

Assessment helps teachers understand what students have learned, identify areas that need reinforcement and plan suitable instruction. Students also receive opportunities to demonstrate understanding through written work, oral tasks, practical activities, projects and examinations.

Nursery to KG II

The school’s published policy states that there is no formal examination-style assessment for Nursery to KG II. Learning is observed through age-appropriate classroom participation and developmental activities.

Classes I to V

The published framework includes multiple evaluations during the academic session, oral work in regular classes, language assessment across listening, reading, writing and speaking, and concept- or activity-based assessment in Mathematics and EVS. Promotion remains subject to applicable RTE and government provisions.

Classes VI to VIII

The legacy policy describes a two-term structure with internal assessment and written examinations. Internal assessment may include periodic tests, portfolio work, subject-enrichment activities and multiple-assessment components. Language skills, laboratory work, practical activities, map work and projects form part of subject enrichment.

Classes IX and X

Assessment for Classes IX and X follows CBSE norms. The school’s published structure includes annual or board examination components together with internal assessment through periodic tests, portfolio, subject-enrichment work and multiple assessment.

Classes XI and XII

The Senior Secondary framework includes periodic tests, half-yearly examination and annual or board examination, with theory and practical components where applicable. Promotion and pass criteria follow current CBSE requirements and the school’s approved academic policy.

Attendance, rechecking and examination conduct

Students are expected to maintain the attendance required under applicable CBSE rules. The school’s published policy also provides for a limited period in which parents may request rechecking after result declaration. Unfair means in examinations are handled according to applicable CBSE and school rules.

Important: Examination, promotion, pass criteria and assessment structures can change when CBSE or government rules are revised. The latest school circular or officially approved academic policy takes precedence over this web summary.
